Giacometti Museum & School
Paris, France · Opening planned 2028 · In the former Gare des Invalides · Designed by Dominique Perrault with Pierre-Antoine Gatier and Louis Benech

The Giacometti Museum & School in Paris will be the first major museum dedicated entirely to Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti, set inside the historic Gare des Invalides near the Seine. Just off the Esplanade des Invalides and a short walk from the Musée d’Orsay and the Quai d’Orsay, it puts a Giacometti-focused museum right in the middle of one of Paris’s most visited cultural districts.

About the Museum
Planned to open in 2028, the Giacometti Museum & School (Musée & École Giacometti) will offer around 6,000 m² of galleries, studios, and public spaces for visitors to explore Giacometti’s art and process. The project reuses the former train station and its underground platforms, turning them into exhibition rooms, learning spaces, and a new cultural hub under the Esplanade des Invalides.

Highlighted Artists/Works

  • Alberto Giacometti, Permanent Collection — A large selection of sculptures, paintings, drawings, and archival materials from a 10,000-piece collection, including works that have rarely or never been shown in Paris.

  • Reconstructed Studio — A new presentation of Giacometti’s Paris studio, allowing visitors to see the everyday objects, tools, and fragments that shaped his famous elongated figures.

  • Modern and Contemporary Dialogues — Temporary shows placing Giacometti alongside other modern and contemporary artists, using the new museum’s architecture to stage conversations about sculpture, the human body, and space.

Why It’s Worth Visiting
For visitors looking for Alberto Giacometti in Paris, this museum will offer a full-scale home for his work, complementing the more intimate Institut Giacometti in Montparnasse.

Estimated visit time: 2 – 3 hours
Plan enough time for the permanent Giacometti collection, at least one temporary exhibition, and a stop in the bookshop or education spaces once the museum opens.

Admission
Ticket details for the Giacometti Museum & School have not yet been finalized, but the museum is expected to offer standard and reduced admission, along with free or discounted access for young visitors, students, and partner programs.
As a combined museum and art school, the site is also expected to host paid workshops, classes, and special educational programs with their own booking conditions.

Admission details are accurate as of March 25, 2026 but are subject to change — check the Fondation Giacometti website or the official Giacometti Museum & School project page before planning your visit.

Getting There
The future Alberto Giacometti museum will be located in the former Gare des Invalides in Paris’s 7th arrondissement, close to the Invalides complex, Pont Alexandre III, and several major metro and RER lines.
